چکیده

The polarised absorption coefficient of ZnSiP? near the fundamental absorption edge has been studied. Three singularities were found for E l c which are attributed to pseudodirect transitions. The absorption for El/ c is mainly due to indirect transitions. A theoretical curve was fitted to the experimental results with the aid of the relative theoretical intensities for pseudodirect transitions calculated from the quasicubic model. This yields approximate values for the exciton binding energy of 22 meV, and for the matrix element for pseudodirect transitions about a thousand times smaller than that for direct transitions in 111-V compounds. The splitting5 of the valence bands give values for the spin-orbit splitting of 0.056 eV and of the crystal field splitting of 0.130 eV. The lowest band gap in ZnSiPz is pseudodirect at 2.082 eV at room temperature after making allowance for the exciton binding energy.

OPTICAL ABSORPTION IN Ce0 -V 0 EVAPORATE THIN FILMS

In this work, the optical absorption near the fundamental absorption edge of co-evaporated Ce0 -V20 films is studied. It is found that the fundamental optical absorption in these materials is sharp more like that expected for crystals. It is also found that as the V O content increases, the edge becomes less sharp and shifts towards higher wavelengths

Effect of impurities on the optical properties of KTP single crystals grown from flux

In the present work, KTP crystals have been grown by spontaneous nucleation technique in flux medium using K6P4O13 flux. 0.4-1 °C/h cooling rates were applied in the spontaneous nucleation process. The presence and amount of impurities has been determined by using XRF. The optical transmission spectra of impure KTP crystals in the UV–visible region are discussed. The transmission cut-off is cle...

The effect of temperature on optical absorption cross section of bimetallic core-shell nano particles

In this paper, the temperature dependence on optical absorption cross section of the core shell bimetallic nanoparticles (NPs) is investigated in quasi static approximation. Temperature dependence of the plasmon resonance is important issue because of recent applications of NPs of noble metal for heat treating of cancer and the computer chips. The effect of temperature on surface plasmon resona...

EFFECT OF MULTI-STEP ANODIZING METHODS ON THE OPTICAL ABSORPTION OF BLACK COATINGS ON 2024 ALUMINUM ALLOY

Development of materials with the ideal black body absorption spectrum are of great interest. Such materials could improve the efficiency of solar cells, and passive cooling and heat transfer systems as well as the protective and decorative coatings. Fabricating black anodizing coatings is promising for this purpose because they exhibit low light reflection from the surface. Such coatings can ...

Enhanced optical absorption in organic solar cells using metal nano particles

In this study, for increasing absorption of the active layer in bulk hetero junction (BHJ) organic solar cells (OSCs) we used surface Plasmon effects of metal nano particles (MNPs). We embedded the MNPs inside the active layer and studied the device structure. For shown the results we investigated the model of our structure with Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) numerical method and achieved...
